Petit Mal Seizures
  • Unlike a Grand Mal Seizure, Petit Mal Seizures are small, sometimes unnoticeable episodes lasting a brief time.
  • Most common in children between ages 6-12
  • Typically lasts only 15 seconds
Symptoms/Signs of Seizure
  1. Sudden entering of a "off in the distance" stare.
  2. Sudden dead-stop in movement/ current activity.
  3. Minor shaking of the hands
  4. Lip smacking/chewing
  5. Fluttering eye lids 
Afterwards:
Complete restoration of activity/alertness. Often no awareness that a seizure occurred.
