Petit Mal Seizures
- Unlike a Grand Mal Seizure, Petit Mal Seizures are small, sometimes unnoticeable episodes lasting a brief time.
- Most common in children between ages 6-12
- Typically lasts only 15 seconds
- Sudden entering of a "off in the distance" stare.
- Sudden dead-stop in movement/ current activity.
- Minor shaking of the hands
- Lip smacking/chewing
- Fluttering eye lids
Complete restoration of activity/alertness. Often no awareness that a seizure occurred.
